Victim in fatal Patterson crash ID’d as Ossining man

Louis Arpi, a 56-year-old Ossining man, was identified as the victim in Monday’s fatal collision in Patterson.

Arpi was driving northbound on Route 22 around 6:30 a.m. when he was struck head-on by a female driver in a Jeep Liberty who tried to pass a southbound tractor-trailer in a passing zone near the intersection of Thunder Ridge Road, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.

Arpi was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was treated for minor injuries in the hospital and released.

No tickets were issued at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
